Project Surya Chakra is a multi-pronged enviro-social project that seeks to transform India’s access to solar energy, starting at the grassroots. In partnership with Metafin, Project Surya Chakra enrolls and onboards atta chakki (wheat mill) users in rural India, thereby contributing to significant reduction in non-renewable energy usage and significant increase in profit. 

In order to improve users’ ability to use and perform their own maintenance of the solar-powered mills, Project Surya Chakra is also developing a series of informational video guides that empower users with the knowledge of cleaning procedures, general upkeep, and minor repairs – reaching out to over 5000 agricultural service providers across rural India, this skills training also unlocks professional opportunities.
